Denise Abeita holds a JD degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law and a BA in Native American Studies and Sociology from Dartmouth College. Before joining the firm, Denise was a volunteer attorney with the New Mexico Legal Aid’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic and associate counsel at a business law firm in Albuquerque where she worked on various issues involving tax and business law. Denise is committed to serving native peoples and advancing tribal rights, and is honored to be sharing this passion through her work at the firm.
While in law school Denise was the recipient of the Clinical Honors Award for the Business and Tax Clinic, Felix Briones Award, the CALI Award in Business and Transactional Drafting and Non-Profit Entities; and she served as the Budget Chair of the Student Bar Association and Treasurer for the Native American Law Students Association. As part of Denise’s legal career she has been and continues to remain committed to serving the larger Native community as well as her communities at the Pueblo of Isleta and Pueblo of Laguna.
