Barnhouse Keegan Solimon & West, LLP (“BKSW”) is proud to share that Christina West, Partner, and Kayla Jankowski, Associate, were selected by Public Counsel’s Opportunity Under Law Project to receive the 2025 Public Counsel Pro Bono Award.
Public Counsel is a nonprofit public interest law firm dedicated to advancing civil rights and racial and economic justice. The 2025 Public Counsel Pro Bono Award is awarded to “individuals and firms in recognition of their extraordinary dedication to pro bono service” and which is the “very essence of our profession’s ethical duty to ensure access to justice for all.” BKSW is honored to have partnered with Public Counsel and Martinez, Hart, Sanchez & Romero, another well-established Albuquerque law firm, in obtaining a favorable decision earlier this year in the arbitration of Kevin S., et al., v. New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, and New Mexico Human Services Department, et al., concerning the systematic deprivation of the rights of children in state custody.
Please join us in celebrating Christina and Kayla for their outstanding work in the Kevin S. litigation and for receiving this privileged award! Please see the National Pro Bono Week: Honoring the Partnerships That Power Justice | Public Counsel website for more details.
